 Brief History of the Department:

Botany is an important branch of Biology or Life Sciences, that has very good opportunities in the fields of academics, research having very good employment opportunities. The Department of the Botany was established in the year 1989. At present having 2 regular teaching positions catering the academic needs of the student community studying Botany as one of interdisciplinary subjects in their programme. The department is handling the B.Sc. Programme in CBCS pattern with Botany, Zoology & Chemistry combination (B.Z.C.) in Telugu medium earlier but the medium of instruction changed to English from the academic year 2021-2022.

            The Department is striving hard in encouraging the students of Botany in building the good academic career with the required curricular inputs and by organising co-curricular activities like Student seminars, Poster presentation competitions, Quiz Programmes, Plickers and Field visits. The department is conducting need based certificate courses viz. flower bouquet, vermiculture and vermicompost. The Students of Botany are also encouraged to participate in the Extra-curricular activities organised by NSS and other different clubs of the college.
